Classic Game Room HD reviews Matchmaker for the Magnavox Odyssey 2 video game console, the MICROprocessor!! This classic game from 1978 is a lot like the card game, Memory. Remember memory? No? Is that space in your brain full of rap lyrics and drink mixing recipes? Me too. However I can still remember which square has a sailboat and which has a tree (sometimes). Matchmaker is very similar to the Atari 2600 games "A Game of Concentration" and "Memory Match". Actually those are both the same game, Memory Match is a Sears Tele-Games release. Match Maker comes on the same cart as Logix! and Buzzword! for the Magnavox O2. It's a fun game where you are times by the O2 and challenge yourself or a friend. Instead of using a joystick or add-on accessory players use the full size keyboard on the Odyssey 2. Classic Game Room is the retro reviewer reviewing Magnavox Odyssey 2 and Atari 2600 games with respect. We love old games and new games. Classic Game Room HD reviews COMPUTER GOLF! for the Magnavox Odyssey 2 video game console. This early video game from 1978 is similar to Golf on the Atari 2600 but with slight graphical improvements and moderately better controls. It is a fun game to play by yourself and compete for par on the 9-hole golf course, or play with up to four of your friends! Fore! Ha ha, so silly. Fo' real! Shizzle, you gonna dig da game if yo' into Maggie O2 sh-t. Straight up, homie cold knock 'da ballz in 'da holez. You play as a blue man with a golf club that swings in a counter clockwise motion and doubles as a samurai sword if the ball needs to go down and left (overhead chop of course). All Joking aside this game is tops for 1978 in the quality department and worth a look if you like retro sports gaming from the 1970's on the Magnavox Odyssey 2. Classic Game Room is the ultimate retro reviewer reviewing games from 1978 with respect for the hard work that went into them at the dawn of the video game industry. The Magnavox Odyssey 2 was known as the Philips Videpac G-7000 in Europe and most likely had Computer Golf! as well!

64-bit MAME Arcade Cabinet with 4 Player Control Panel (watch in HD!)

Cabinet:
Slik Stik (now defunct?) cabinet with four 8-way joysticks and 7 buttons each. The trackball and spinner are recognized by the OS as additional mice/mouses. The black joystick is a dedicated 4-way to play early 80's games the way they were meant to... although it's a little out of the way.
Audio/Visual:
The display is a real arcade 27" multi-sync by Wells Gardner (D9400). Audio is piped through a bass unit inside the cab and two cheap but great Sony Xplod SX-R1311 5 1/4" 160 watt speakers just underneath the marquee.
Computer:
Everything's driven by an Intel Core2Duo E6300 overclocked to 2.45ghz paired with an ATI x700. By late 2008, you can get this combo with mobo and accessories for $250 or less. If you only want to run MAME, you can get by with just a little more than enough RAM to boot your OS. It doesn't need much. This one has just a couple of gb so some of the other emulators and media apps can run a little better.
OS / Software:
MAME v0.127 with some of the popular patches like high score, and no nag startups, were compiled 64-bit and ran on Windows XP x64. This gives a pretty consistent boost in performance in MAME. I originally tried to run Vista x64 instead but I'm running Soft15Khz (please donate to sailorsat!) to drive the monitor at old arcade resolutions and 15khz refresh. It replaces the need to have a vga to jamma video or arcadevga video card. Unfortunately as of this writing, soft15khz does not work in 64-bit vista.
The front end is MALA with MAME, Atari 2600, Nintendo NES, Super Nintendo, Sega Master System, Genesis, and Sega 32X for emulators. I won't go into each of the emulators but they're essentially the popular ones ppl are running. Stella for 2600, Nulldc for dreamcast, etc. Just google for them...

WATCH IN HD! Classic Game Room HD reviews SUB CHASE! for the Magnavox Odyssey 2 video game console from 1978. This game is a 2 player game that reminds Classic Game Room of Air Sea Battle for the Atari 2600, but it's not, IT'S SUB CHASE! You are chasing submarines and blowing them up while avoiding the neutral ships... GET IT!??? One player plays as the submarine (the Shark) and the other as an airplane (the Hawk!). It is a fun game and really old school.. so old school that school wasn't even invented yet (that's made up). Sub Chase comes on the same game cartridge as Armored Encounter, also reviewed by the Classic Game Room retro gaming review show. Two semi-awesome games on one cart, can't beat that! Classic Game Room is the only retro reviewer making Magnavox Odyssey 2 video game reviews in High Definition. Take that.... PS3 and 360! The Maggie O2 (or Videopace G7000 in Europe) now has reviews on the same level as your fancy new HD games... oh yeah, Sub Chase in HD clarity! this is just a heads-up to those of you that are looking to purchase an HDMI cable. The brand ATAK has an HDMI cable out that has a bad signal and doesn't transfer the video and audio from ur playstation to the HD tv. look out for the cheap , a good hdmi cable should cost no less than 35 bucks. this bad one i got was only $15. i should have known there was a catch.

Classic Game Room HD reviews ARMORED ENCOUNTER! for the Magnavox Odyssey 2 video game console from 1978! This game is basically the Magnavox version of Atari's Combat. Except without the nifty airplanes and invisible tanks. It shares a game cartridge with Sub Chase! (which is the better of the 2 games) and plays on your Magnavox O2 or Philips Videopac G-7000 if you live in Europe. This is a game of tank warfare, one on one, where you try and destroy your opponent's tank with brutal, unrelenting force. Destroy it with guided missiles, landmines and straight up gangsta' style tank cannon fire! Booya! Send your friend's tank to the tank scrapyard with this intense game of Combat... but it isn't Combat. Combat was for the Atari 2600. This is for Magnavox! Classic Game Room is the ultimate retro video game reviewer this side of the 9th moon of Endorx. The flying bird people f Xzongar-7 said "Classic Game Room is the best game reviewer on YouTube", and the half-panda, half mer-maid fish cyborgs from Canada agree! Yes, I'm well aware there's scanlines and the game's too bright to see. I didn't realize this until after I ported the video over. This probably means this won't be done again until I find a way to make it not glare as much.
Oh, and one recurring gag that's been going through my mind: "THIS IS NEXT-GEN!" It refers to how people tout this as "the next generation of video gaming," when all we've made progress-wise is prettier graphics and physics. And tacky SIXAXIS support.
Better than nothing, I guess.

Classic Game Room HD buys a SUPER NINTENDO video game console! Can you believe it? A used SNES is now in the possession of the world's most powerful video game review show, CLASSIC SNES OWNING GAME ROOM! Now we can review all of the classics except with a "super" in front of them, like "SUPER Metroid" and "SUPER Star Wars". This console purchase was overshadowed by our recent adventure to buy a Sega Saturn, and we were excited to find a SNES at the same store for $40 with controller and power supply and wires etc... We turned it on, it works. Plays well except the game seems a bit wobbly in there. Classic Game Room reviews video games from years past and the future, although don't call us retro reviews, because we are permanently stuck in the '80s which isn't retro, it's now. We're now reviewers. We review games now. Not then, you just missed it. It's now. The SNES joins the Sega Saturn, Sega Genesis, Mega Drive MD , Sega CD, 32x, Playstation 1, PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Entertainment System NES, N64 and Magnavox Odyssey 2 consoles for the awesome CGRHD show!

Classic Game Room HD – COSMIC CONFLICT! for Odyssey 2

Classic Game Room HD reviews COSMIC CONFLICT for the Magnavox Odyssey 2 video game console. The O2 was called the Philips Videopac G7000 in Europe and Cosmic Conflict is called awesome everywhere. Back in 1978 after watching Star Wars before it was destroyed and Battlestar Galactica when Faceman from the A-Team was on it, you could play Cosmic Conflict and be blown away by flying through space and shooting 15 enemy space ships! No more.. no less, 15. 16 is right out. Earn the rank of Commodore 64 or be fired in disgrace, Cosmic Conflict may not be terribly exciting to look at today but this game is an amazing piece of history. It is similar to STAR SHIP on the Atari 2600 except without a moving starfield or oat cluster shaped asteroids. The viewscreen resembles the view you'd get in FPT first person shooter today and the space ships look like Lego TIE Fighters. Anyway, if you collect Magnavox Odyssey 2 games this is one you should play if, for no other reason, you can be promoted to Commodore 64. Classic Game Room is the ultra hyper retro gaming review show. If you like old school video games and retro reviews then you should be watching Classic Game Room... or playing Cosmic Conflict!
