I saw a viewsonic HDTV for $289. Is this a good price? What would be the cheapest i could get for 26"?
that would be 289 with shipping and tax. w/o would be 274
I wouldn't pay more than $250 for a 26" lcd because you can get a 32" for $379...I have seen them for $229

I just bought a HDMI-DVI cable to connect my PS3 to my Viewsonic VP181b monitor. It plugs in perfectly on both ends, the HDMI into the back of the PS3 and the DVI into the DVI port on the monitor. Now when i turn the monitor and the PS3 on, its seeming like perhaps the monitor senses the PS3 is connected but the screen is black with no display on it at all. Can anyone tell me what is wrong? It would help maybe if you looked over the following specs of this monitor:

I just bought a brand new HP Media Center m8000y TV PC. In fact I still havent recieved it. I am wondering if it is going to be possible to hook this up to my surround sound system (a Sony HTDDW900). I have a ViewSonic 37" N3751w LCD HDTV which I will use as my monitor. To hook it up to my TV I was going to use a DVI to HDMI cable. However, since DVI does not carry audio, I need a way to connect the computer to my surround sound. I don't know if the computer has a digital audio output, if it does then problem solved. Does anyone know if there is anyway to get this computer hooked up to my particular surround sound system. I shelled out for a HD DVD drive so it would be nice to have the surround sound to accompany the picture.
HD DVD drive will give you a HD picture, what you should be concerned with is the sound card. Does it have a PCI sound card?? If it has an optional card, there are several different type of surround sound hookups. Most mobos with onboard sound are at least 5:1 surround, which is the standard. 5:1 means you can run up to 5 speakers and 1 sub woofer. So consult your owner's manual for hooking up your surround to the computer. All output from a computer is digital (1's and 0's). I use a 3:1 speaker system and it has better sound than my home unit. HDMI stands for "High Definititon Multimedia Interface" that is what you'll need to use for your hookup.

I was looking into the Viewsonic n2750w 27" HDTV that actually was on G4 TV as a good gaming monitor. I was under the understanding that too big can make computer "graphics" blurry.
One of the most important factors, that nobody else ever seems to care about (and it pisses me off to no end), is the RESOLUTION of the monitor. And I've never seen an LCD tv that has a resolution higher than 1280*1024 (an "amazing" performance, achieved in the last millennium by over 99% of the common 17" CRT monitors and many 15" monitors too).

and is it 480p, 720p, or 1080i
It will be compatible with a PS3 and it is likely a 720p depending on when it was made.

i'm planning to replace my viewsonic va1903wb 19" widescreen monitor. im planning to replace it with a monitor that will have atleast a vga and dvi input(mine has only one, a vga input). i'm debating what i should get. im pretty much ruling out using an hdtv. so i want to get a monitor with a budget of 600-700 dollars at most. the dell ultrasharp 2408wfp has had great reviews but i've been looking at the samsung syncmaster t260(26", not the one with the built in tuner). there really isnt many reviews for this monitor though. im trying to get a monitor of a decently large size that still has great quality. mine also seems to be ghosting when im trying to watch movies, not a problem in games though. i also want to use a larger monitor to play video games on my xbox 360 so we dont have to all crowd around the screen. any suggestions?
Actually I don't have any recommendations but...

I am wanting to set-up a home theatre projector at my house. Its primary purpose will be for watching DVDs and playing video games (i.e. Nintendo, XBox, etc.). I am not concerned with HDTV. The projector will need to sit between 15-23 feet from the screen. Additionally, I need the projector to be bright enough so that a little ambient light won't make it unviewable.

would it be better to get a refurbished 32" hdtv lcd samsung, or toshiba, or lg, or even dell as to a brand new vizio, or olevia, or viewsonic, or even westinghouse.
I WOULD NEVER BUY A REFURBISHED T.V. IF YOU ARE BUYING A LCD, BUY A SONY. THEY ARE THE BEST.

I recently bought a 19" Viewsonic LCD monitor. However it only has VGA input. So I was wondering if I can buy a HD set top box, then get a hdmi to vga adapter, so that I can connect it to the lcd monitor. Does anyone know if this is possible ?
It's possible, most definitely possible. But I wouldn't recommend it. Firstly, the LCD is VGA for a reason, it was intended as a Computer Display. Secondly, HDMI is designed for 480p-1080p resoloution, the first one may be your only option, and although it's good, I would recommend you buy an HD certified display unit to achieve the desired resoulution. The LCD Will display the HD, but probably not very well, as the monitor would cut off the extended resoulution (Kind of like watching a Full Frame movie on a Widescreen TV) It won't look right because you're forcing the hardware to do something it wasn't designed to do.

I bought a viewsonic hdtv projector back in January. Yesterday when I turned it on, after a couple of minutes the screen went blank. The fans were still running so I don't think it over heated. I use the projector on an every day bases. Is it just the light bulb that is going out or is it something more? The hours on the lamp read 1353 - 55, but I thought the lamp was supposed to last for 3000 hours. Unless I am reading this 1353 - 55 (55 I think are the minutes) hours all wrong. I built a shelf for it so I know it has not been dropped. Somebody please help.
Maybe i asked too earlier for someone to respond. Please read.
Still looking for answer. someone please help
As you said, the lamp is supposed to last for 3000 hours. However, a variety of factors, such as even a slightly high line voltage, can decrease lamp life below the rated lamp life. It's entirely possible the bulb simply burned out prematurely. You can test the continuity of the bulb with an ohmmeter (e.g., a digital multimeter) or you could simply replace the bulb and see if that solves the problem.

i was thinking about getting a ps3 and i want to have it in my room. can i play it through my viewsonic LCD pc monitor? is it worth getting a ps3? we do have a HDTV in the lounge room but i would rather having a ps3 in my room.
Not easily. There is no direct cable to connect the PS3 to your PC monitor.

I am currently looking for a 26" LCD Flat Panel HDTV for the holiday season. I am planning to spend around $300-500. First of all, which is a reliable brand that I can trust? Where should I buy it? online? costco? circuity city? etc. I've seen Viewsonic for $469 at costco and also a Westinghouse for $449 also at costco. Polaroid for $499 at circuit city. Also I saw this 26" Philips for $489 at amazon.com but it is refurbished. Can I trust refurbished tvs? should I even be buying it online?
