Is a bluray player a waste if one doesn’t yet have an HD TV?

Friday, December 5th, 2008

I currently have a Proscan 27" CRT TV (proscan is/was the upscale brand by RCA). I found a deal on a sony bluray player and I will eventually be upgrading my tv to an HDTV but my question is if I connect a bluray player to a standard def TV will the picture quality be worse than if I had my regular DVD player plugged in. I guess I'm wondering if the bluray player will only transmit in HD1080p and will somehow overload the signal processor of my standard def TV and make the image look like crap.

Are proscan TVs a good value?

Monday, November 17th, 2008

hello and i am currently thinking of buying an HDTV from circut city it is called a proscan it is 32 inches and its onyl 500 dollars please tell me if you know if it is a good tv or not thanks!!

NO! It is a cheap third tier, disposable TV made with god-only-knows-what Chinese parts, like Insignia, Element, Dynex, Polaroid, and Vizio, to name a few. Buy quality. For $500, I'm not sure you can even find a decent quality 26". Read this before you waste your $$$. http://www.hdguru.com/your-new-disposable-flat-panel-hdtv/107/
In 32" and 26" LCD, the 2 best, for BOTH performance and reliability, are Panasonic Viera and Sony Bravia. A price point lower, but still reasonably good quality, is Toshiba followed by Sharp and Samsung. After these brands, quality just falls off too fast.

Please help me decide which tv is the better buy.?

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

I am able to get in on some good deals and am confused about what to get.
There is a 42" Vizio, 42" Proscan, 37" LG, or 37" Samsung that are each available to me for only $490. Anyone have any good or bad experiences with any of these. They are all HDTV

Buy the Samsung as it is the only TV on your list that comes from a reputable company.

proscan tv help????

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

we got this 26 LCD FLAT PANL HDTV model no: 26LA30Q from a family member who moved when we turned it on its as if it was hit with something the screen is not broken but the image is messed up the screen is black with different colored lines coming from the corner where it looks like it was hit. whats wrong with it???

The screen on the outside as you see it is plastic, but the actual lcd on the inside behind the plastic is made of glass and I'm pretty sure the front of the set was hit and the lcd inside is broken. A picture of the symptom would help determine this for sure. If you take it to a repair shop and have a tech look at it on the counter, I'm sure they would agree.

Cable Line/Coax Question?

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

Don't think i am asking how to steal cable. but i just got a PROSCAN HDTV. i have Charter's HD Service and i am not very confident of the quality of the coax/cable line in my particular apartment. there is a cable (center?) or a box where my complex all connects to.( once again, i pay for Charters(R) Cable Service and I am not asking how steal cable. ) i was just wondering where/how i could run a higher quality line from that box(or center?) to the room with the HDTV. any info would be great1! -- Thanks
Charter or anyone else cannot replace coax in the walls. im not that stupid :)

You would have to convince charter to look at it and replace it if necessary.

proscan tv repair?

Friday, October 10th, 2008

how much money would it cost me to fix a 26 lcd flat plan hdtv model no: 26LA30Q the lcd screen is broken whats the most i will have 2 pay to get it fixed

It will cost you about as much to replace that broken LCD screen, ASSUMING you can even find parts for a 'cheapie' like ProScan, as it will to buy a new one. It is not worth fixing! Scrap it and get a new set, with a new warranty!!

I just got an HDTV?

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

I'm new at this, my old big screen tv (Proscan) i loved it and i had it for ten years. So Sunday i decided to get a new tv. I got the Mitsubishi HDTV, yesterday i got my satellite upgrade to HD, but some channels that aren't HD are really fuzzy, and when i watch DVD's there really fuzzy, is there anyways i can fix it? And do you have any tips to make my tv last as long as my old one? Anything i should know about? Thank you.

u need the 3 wires for hd capability. the y pB pR i think its called that they are the white green and red cables juss go to your shop and ask 4 the y pB cables they will know what u r talking about. as for your dvd player, u need a special dvd player for hd. they r pricy too. also to maintain your tv juss look after it well clean it evry now and then and good luck

Help with the picture on my tv?

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

I have a 19" Proscan HDTV. i recently hooked up cable TV to it. i have comcast, but on this TV there is no comcast receiver box, so there is just a coaxial cable running directly to my tv. the problem is that the picture on the tv is stretched out. there are no menus to change aspect ratio, what should i do?

Get the remote control to your tv out and go into the menu and there you will find and set a default setting to 4:3 for your non-HD channels. Otherwise, just find the picture button on your remote control and push it until you find a setting you like. If you don't change the default setting though, you'll have to do this every time you change the channel (non-HD).

Do you know where I can find out how a hdtv works with a pc?

Monday, October 6th, 2008

Proscan 19LA25Q lcd tv -this is the brand I have and I just got one but the manual wasnt in the box,is there a site that shows you how to fix the pc on it and the type of attachments(wires)that is used?

OK if your computer has an svideo output simple get an svideo cable and plug into your computer and plug into your tv and press the input one button then you might have to right click on your dektop go to properties setting advanced display and if it shows up and option to turn on tv output click that if not use a vga cable if your tv has vga input if not get a vga to rca adaptor to go out og your comp with vga and go into the tv with rca and then press the input button once or twice

i'm considering buying a 42" proscan lcd hdtv but it is only 720 not 1080i or "p." some clarity please!

You need to buy a reputable brand TV firstly as most cheaper models will play up almost as soon as the warranty period runs out.

Proscan 19LA25Q- 19" LCD HDTV- or Polaroid TLA-01911C- 19" LCD HDTV?

Monday, October 6th, 2008

I plan on buying one of them for my dorm but I can't decide which one...I cannot find any reviews for the Proscan but I hear the Polaroid is pretty good. Help?
It is for a college dorm, so I don't want to spend more than 300$ for one.

buy the polaroid, its more known of a brand and its a pretty good set. i see that there was a person who said not to buy neither one of them, i guess he didnt get your question, you were asking which one to choose and i see he decided to critisize your question by badmouthing both products. it was a simple question, oh well i would say the polaroid for sure!!

How to make standard picture quality better in my HDTV?

Monday, October 6th, 2008

I have Proscan HDTV and a directv satellite cable.I dont want to buy HD packages because it has very expensive monthly fees. I have HDTV with standard definition picture. But the SD picture is not clear,so how am i suppose to make the SD picture look clearer and sharper?

You are experiencing the SD on HD TV disappointment. Your Direct receiver is providing only 480 lines of information, while you TV set is looking for 720 or 1080 horizontal lines of information. The SD signal is only 480, thus the set is having to makeup the difference, so your image is not a crisp as a true digital HD signal.
