I have an HD DirectTV DVR, Blu-Ray player, XBOX 360, VCR and a Pioneer Plasma HDTV (1080p) and want a new AV receiver with at least 3 HDMI inputs, with good upconversion and good downcoversion as well. Would like iPod comptabible, satellite radio ready and ability for multi-zones. Thanks for your help!
As a yamaha owner I may be slightyl biased but the Yamaha - 910W fills all your requirements and more. I love mine and it's been providing great sound, without problem for years.

Can I (or how do I) connect my Cox Motorola HD box that has DVI-D, component, s-video, and SPDIF outputs to my Pioneer PDP-436PU TV's HDMI input for the best picture? Or is that the best way to do it?
You should be able to connect the HDMI cable to your TV and the other end can be converted to a dvi input, you will have to add two audio cables from the cable box to the TV. I would buy a cable that is HDMI to DVI and not use the little converter device. The inputs on the cable box. This lets you use the HDMI cable in lieu of the three component cables which would be next in quality, or the s-video which would be next in quality.

I am running Windows XP SP2 with Windows Media Player 11. I have a Pioneer Elite Pro 1140D, and I was hoping somebody could shed some light as to how to connect my PC to my HDTV through a CAT5 cable and make it work?

It's an 8 year old Pioneer 64" CRT Projection HDTV. It does not have a picture or lit screen that's blank. You can hear it power up when turned on and the power switch lights up (red light) then it stays in standby mode. Any switch, transformer, cooling fan or circuit board problems? The Model # SD-643HD5. Thanks
Some of the old Pioneers have been exhibiting problems due to bad solder joints on the power supply board. After years of heat-cool cycles, these joints have cracked. The solution has been to remove the board and re-solder everything. I believe this has primarily shown up with the Elites of that era, but it's possible your 643 has the same issue.

The most real answer is probably nowhere! Cost of repair is just too high to mess with.

My HDTV is a 50" Pioneer Elite 720p Plasma screen.
Do I need to configure my TV's input down to 480p? It is a 720p plasma.
You should not have to configure the tv. Most likely, you just need to select the correct input on the tv. It used to be, when you were using the yellow cord, that input but now you are using the component cables which might be something like input 2. If you havn't tried that, it should work. You shouldn't have to change the settings on the resultion however. should work. Probably the input. Right where you plug in the cables should be the description as to what input it is.

Its very nice looking externally- Shiny Black. Im told Pioneer is good for Plasma tvs. Anyway thanks again. Do you guys think its a good choice.
In response to Philip. I have a blue ray dvd Sony Laptop with 1080 screen and HD player aswell, also Ive been given as a present Casino Royale, The Queen, XXX and X-Men on Blue ray dvds and also 3 HD dvds. So i have everything needed I think, except a HDMI lead (LOL) which i need to connect everything. I dont have buyers remorse YET. But hoping it was the right choice in terms of quality and longevity
Nice choice, I was looking at that set myself and ended up with a Samsung. The picture was as good quality as the Pioneer but carried a smaller price tag which allowed me to get a HD DVD player and save a few bucks. Just a foot note I still have my Pioneer stereo system that is 20 years old and sounds as good as the day I bought it. Hope your TV lasts as long!

Which brand out of those and which model is the best for the playstation 3, blu-ray movies, and hd channels. Also that is under 25 inches.
Im needing this tv to be a little small, for a room. It has a tv that is about 17" but I am wanting an HDTV with HDMI for my PS3 when I stay in the room. The tv needs to stay under 20"
I would actually say get a Vizio if money is a problem, or an Olevia HDTV(knock-off Sony). Both are great but I guess if you want optimal optimization(LOL) get a Sony Bravia. Since both products are by Sony(PS3 & Bravia), theoretically, they would be great for each other. Also, some Bravia HDTV(maybe all of them) can output at 120 FPS. This is twice as many frames per second than other high-end HDTV's which will provide for more fluid gameplay!

Ok, I have a 60" Sony HDTV Rear Projection I think the KDS series. I have a Pioneer Elite VSX-9* series receiver since my house is wired for surround round and speakers throughout and this receiver I thought was good for multi-room control. My DVD player is just a standard upconvert Toshiba and it's hooked up via an HDMI cable. I'm pretty sure I know how to hook up the Bose to the receiver since it's all just plug-n-play but i'll figure it out. These Bose speakers will be ceiling mounted via Bose brackets and the walls are already pre-wired with the little wall plate that i can use the banana plugs to attach the wiring.

Panasonic 1080p 50" Flat-Panel Plasma HDTV** (TH50PZ77?
These are both very high quality sets! You would be satisfied with either. That being said, I think Panasonic does offer more bang for the buck, as Pioneer gets pricey. I suggest you read what Consumer Reports has to say on performance and reliability in the 11/07 HDTV issue. You can get it at your public library.

I have heard the prices on HDTVs are going to go down early next year. You might want to wait, if possible.

I have a Pioneer PDP-436PU HDTV and a Dell computer with a Nvidia Riva TNT2 Model 64 video card that only has 15 pin female. How can I (or can I) connect and use my TV as a monitor? I tried a 15-pin male to components output converter, but it didn't work. Any ideas? Thanks.

Connect your DVD Player's video to your LCD HDTV via component cables and the audio to your receiver using optical cable.

It is a 60" Pioneer Elite Plasma HDTV. The picture is awesome right out of the box so I'm not that concerned about enhancing the picture. But I am interested in reducing it's power consumption and extending the life of the TV if calibration will do this. A technician wanting to perform the service told me that it would.
Any difference would be insignificant.

what is a better T.V.? A Pioneer 50" WS Plasma HDTV PDP-5080HD or a?
Panasonic 1080p 50" Flat-Panel Plasma HDTV** (TH50PZ77?
Panasonic and Pioneer are about neck and neck when it comes to picture quality either from a 1080p source (HD-DVD and blu-ray) or an HD signal source (cable or satellite up to 1080i). However, Panasonic's TVs have less than a 1% failure rate whereas other manufacturers are around 3.5%.
The best advice I can give, though, is to always budget for the extended warranty on a plasma - and purchase it through the manufacturer not the dealer. If you do have an issue and something goes wrong - it usually happens just out of the warranty period - which is generally 1 year parts and labor.

I'm debating on 2 Pioneer Elite Plasma HDTV's, one is 50' resolution is 1080p other is 60' with 720p both are going to be around the same price for me so I'm not sure which one i should be looking more into in the near future I'm going to be getting PS3...im not sure if i should get the TV because of the size or the resolution other then that everything is the same..Thank you
OBVIOUSLY A 1080p HAS HIGHER RESOLUTION THAN A 720p. SITTING IN FRONT OF A 50" OR 60" TV IS GOING TO SHOW EVERY DETAIL, SO YOUR GONNA WANT TO GET THE BEST RES POSSIBLE.

Pioneer is considered one of the best HDTV's for years now and yes is very good for video games. Their Elite series and the Kuro sereis are always top of the "food chain" when it comes to HDTV's but they are pricey but for a very good reason.

I had my pioneer elite 68 inch or 64 inch projection television (not sure of size) stolen from my house. It was hdtv capable. Does anyone know when these units were first made and sold and the model numbers. This model does not have an internal HDTV tuner as it required an external tuner.
Try looking at the Pioneer website ... they list older, as well as current models. See the link for the older TV model listing ... you should be able to find a picture you recognize and match to further info....
