Classic Game Room HD – MATCHMAKER! for Magnavox Odyssey 2

Saturday, January 17th, 2009

2 Classic Game Room HD MATCHMAKER! for Magnavox Odyssey 2Classic Game Room HD reviews Matchmaker for the Magnavox Odyssey 2 video game console, the MICROprocessor!! This classic game from 1978 is a lot like the card game, Memory. Remember memory? No? Is that space in your brain full of rap lyrics and drink mixing recipes? Me too. However I can still remember which square has a sailboat and which has a tree (sometimes). Matchmaker is very similar to the Atari 2600 games "A Game of Concentration" and "Memory Match". Actually those are both the same game, Memory Match is a Sears Tele-Games release. Match Maker comes on the same cart as Logix! and Buzzword! for the Magnavox O2. It's a fun game where you are times by the O2 and challenge yourself or a friend. Instead of using a joystick or add-on accessory players use the full size keyboard on the Odyssey 2. Classic Game Room is the retro reviewer reviewing Magnavox Odyssey 2 and Atari 2600 games with respect. We love old games and new games. See ClassicGameRoom.net for a list of all reviews from every game console.

Classic Game Room HD – COMPUTER GOLF! for Magnavox Odyssey 2

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

2 Classic Game Room HD COMPUTER GOLF! for Magnavox Odyssey 2Classic Game Room HD reviews COMPUTER GOLF! for the Magnavox Odyssey 2 video game console. This early video game from 1978 is similar to Golf on the Atari 2600 but with slight graphical improvements and moderately better controls. It is a fun game to play by yourself and compete for par on the 9-hole golf course, or play with up to four of your friends! Fore! Ha ha, so silly. Fo' real! Shizzle, you gonna dig da game if yo' into Maggie O2 sh-t. Straight up, homie cold knock 'da ballz in 'da holez. You play as a blue man with a golf club that swings in a counter clockwise motion and doubles as a samurai sword if the ball needs to go down and left (overhead chop of course). All Joking aside this game is tops for 1978 in the quality department and worth a look if you like retro sports gaming from the 1970's on the Magnavox Odyssey 2. Classic Game Room is the ultimate retro reviewer reviewing games from 1978 with respect for the hard work that went into them at the dawn of the video game industry. The Magnavox Odyssey 2 was known as the Philips Videpac G-7000 in Europe and most likely had Computer Golf! as well!

64-bit MAME Arcade Cabinet with 4 Player Control Panel (watch in HD!)

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

2 64 bit MAME Arcade Cabinet with 4 Player Control Panel (watch in HD!)Cabinet:
Slik Stik (now defunct?) cabinet with four 8-way joysticks and 7 buttons each. The trackball and spinner are recognized by the OS as additional mice/mouses. The black joystick is a dedicated 4-way to play early 80's games the way they were meant to... although it's a little out of the way.

Audio/Visual:
The display is a real arcade 27" multi-sync by Wells Gardner (D9400). Audio is piped through a bass unit inside the cab and two cheap but great Sony Xplod SX-R1311 5 1/4" 160 watt speakers just underneath the marquee.

Computer:
Everything's driven by an Intel Core2Duo E6300 overclocked to 2.45ghz paired with an ATI x700. By late 2008, you can get this combo with mobo and accessories for $250 or less. If you only want to run MAME, you can get by with just a little more than enough RAM to boot your OS. It doesn't need much. This one has just a couple of gb so some of the other emulators and media apps can run a little better.

OS / Software:
MAME v0.127 with some of the popular patches like high score, and no nag startups, were compiled 64-bit and ran on Windows XP x64. This gives a pretty consistent boost in performance in MAME. I originally tried to run Vista x64 instead but I'm running Soft15Khz (please donate to sailorsat!) to drive the monitor at old arcade resolutions and 15khz refresh. It replaces the need to have a vga to jamma video or arcadevga video card. Unfortunately as of this writing, soft15khz does not work in 64-bit vista.

The front end is MALA with MAME, Atari 2600, Nintendo NES, Super Nintendo, Sega Master System, Genesis, and Sega 32X for emulators. I won't go into each of the emulators but they're essentially the popular ones ppl are running. Stella for 2600, Nulldc for dreamcast, etc. Just google for them...

Recording HD Channels with Magnavox DVD Recorder.?

Saturday, January 10th, 2009

Hello,

Is this considered a good TV or bad TV?

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

I have a friend who is selling a 36 inch Magnavox HDTV. I dont know a lot about TV's, and don't watch a lot of tv, but I like to watch movies when its cold out. And since it is getting colder out, I was thinking of buying it from her. She's selling it for $300. Is this a good deal? I have never owned a magnavox, if you have, would you recommend it?

Mommy - I can't believe your first 3 answers. What idiots! IF this is a 36", it is a CRT, right?
In any event, Magnavox is pretty much junk - way too many consumer complaints on Magnavox/Phillips (same mfg.).
If it appears to work perfectly, AND if it has a DIGITAL tuner, I'd offer $50 and take a chance, assuming I was really hurting for $$$. Otherwise, pass.

How do I get the surround sound to go on my TV?

Saturday, January 3rd, 2009

I ave a Magnavox 42" LCD HDTV with Dolby surround sound built in.We got a Phillips DVD progressive scan home system with speakers. We can only get the DVD and radio to work on the surround sound but not the TV.We do not have the HD cables if that matters.Basic cable is on it.

You can do one of two things. If I'm understanding you correctly, you have a dvd player which is built in to the main reciever on your home theater unit. On these units they have very few external inputs. Meaning that the ability for them to run other sources is quite limited. If it has a AUX or TV input on the back you can run a set of audio cables from the audio OUT on the back of your TV to either one of these inputs. You would then need to read your Tv's manual to find out how to enable the AUDIO OUT jacks. You will not get true surround sound as you will not be running a digital source. The phillips unit will process the signal into Dolby Prologic, which is simulated surround sound. For true surround sound, you wil need an HD soure of some kind, and a new home theater reciever. Hope this helps.

1968 Magnavox Console – Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer on Cricket 78 in HD

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

2 1968 Magnavox Console Rudolph the red nosed reindeer on Cricket 78 in HDI got a brand new Sony HDR-SR11 high-definition video camera for Christmas. It's awesome and makes wonderful HD video. So here it is... the first high-def record player video. I was digging through one of my boxes and found a bunch of children's Christmas records on the Promenade and Peter Pan labels. But here's the interesting one: A Cricket 7" record with Gene Autry singing Rudolph. It's 78rpm but uses the LP stylus and it sounds wonderful!

Why is my Magnavox HDTV only picking up digital channels?

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

I only get QAM channels. Autoprogram only picks up 312 digital channels (maybe 12 of them show up) and no analog channels at all. The TV is connected directly with the coaxial cable from the wall.

A QAM tuner will only pick-up digital cable channels. An NTSC tuner will pick-up the analog cable channels. Does your TV have a separate coaxial NTSC input? If it does, then you have to use a splitter on the cable so you can feed both inputs.

do any other owners of the Magnavox 1080p HDTV have problems with it?

Monday, December 29th, 2008

I've had this tv since around July of this year, and I have been rather unsatisfied. the quality is nice, but does not look as nice as my friends HDTVs. it's really fuzzy and pixle-y. and it doesn't look HD.

I hooked a toshiba upconvert dvd player to my madnavox hdtv via component cables and it shows 480p res only.?

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

I hooked a toshiba 5970 dvd player/upconverter to my magnavox 51" hdtv via component cables, because the tv doesn't have a hdmi/dvi connection, and switched the player to analog as the manual says to do but when I play a dvd the tv displays "480p" in a box on the screen. Is 480p the best I can expect with these components or is there a way to increase the resolution by changing settings on the tv or dvd player?

Up conversion only works over a HDMI connection.

Is there a better PS3 Component cable for HDTV? My TV gets light static/fuzz with PS3, but not DVD PLayer.?

Thursday, December 25th, 2008

I have a 42" Magnavox Plasma HDTV. The TV has dual component video input. One has the PS3 and the other has a DVD player. The DVD player gets no static/fuzz, but the PS3 does.

Why can't my HDTV display non-HD channels when using the HD A/V inputs?

TV - 52" Magnavox Projection HDTV (51MP392H)

How do I get my mini dvi to video component to work on my macbook?

Friday, December 19th, 2008

When I connect my magnavox hdtv to my macbook via the mini dvi to component adaptor, then the adaptor to the tv via yellow component cable, all I get is a black screen on my tv. I have tried every display setting on my macbook and still get nothing. I am now completely lost have have no idea what to do.

Yellow is not the component input on your TV. It's the composite input. Yellow expects all the picture information on a single wire, including color. You need to find the set of 3 connectors on your TV that match the wires - green/red/blue. It will be called component video and/or y pb pr.

We have a 32" HDTV by Magnovox & are on an anntenna. My question is, what do we need in 2009?

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

Am attempting to find out what we need for the "big switch" in 2009? We have a Magnavox 32" HDTV flat screen, use an anntenna and need to know if we need a box or anything for the switch? Or are we okay with what we have? Appreciate answers. Thanks!

If your magnavox has a built-in DTV tuner, then you don't need to do anything. Your antenna will work fine.

LCD HDTV Help..?

Classic Game Room HD – SHOWDOWN IN 2100 A.D. for Magnavox

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

2 Classic Game Room HD SHOWDOWN IN 2100 A.D. for MagnavoxClassic Game Room HD reviews SHOWDOWN IN 2100 A.D. for the Magnavox Odyssey 2 video game console from 1979! This game is like Westworld meets Logan's Run meets Outlaw for the Atari 2600. Gunfighters duke it out in an authentic acre of the old west in the future with metal pyramids and dradels made of clay. A rarity for the Philips Videopac G7000 / Odyssey 2, this game plays as both a one player game and 2 player game! If you ignore both controllers the computer will actually play itself and explode. Who doesn't like to watch some computer on computer action, ahhh yeah! MAGNAVOX ODYSSEY 2! Showdown in 2100 AD is one of the better titles on the O2 and is very enjoyable to play because it is so silly. Bullets bounce off trees back into your fact, it takes 10 seconds to fire and you can jump up and down on your enemy's corpse after you slaughter them. As far as 2 player games from 1979 go, this one is still worthy of playing with friends today. If you can find the game cartridge for Showdown in 2100 AD for the Magnavox Odyssey 2, and this review shows gameplay footage of the game, then you'll love it! Classic Game Room is the retro reviewer that reviews games like Showdown in 2100 A.D. with HD gameplay and footage showing the awesome details of this radical game as it is reviewed. "Classic Game Room is the best reviewer on YouTube" says the San Franmisco Picayune, April 32, 2243 edition.

I need help choosing an inexpensive small LCD HDTV TV for my garage. Suggestions?

Saturday, December 13th, 2008

I can order a TV from Wal Mart online, as follows:
1. Magnavox 20" Widescreen LCD HDTV Monitor / DVD Player, 20MF251W… ($374.00)

Classic Game Room HD – SUB CHASE! for Magnavox Odyssey 2

Friday, December 12th, 2008

2 Classic Game Room HD SUB CHASE! for Magnavox Odyssey 2WATCH IN HD! Classic Game Room HD reviews SUB CHASE! for the Magnavox Odyssey 2 video game console from 1978. This game is a 2 player game that reminds Classic Game Room of Air Sea Battle for the Atari 2600, but it's not, IT'S SUB CHASE! You are chasing submarines and blowing them up while avoiding the neutral ships... GET IT!??? One player plays as the submarine (the Shark) and the other as an airplane (the Hawk!). It is a fun game and really old school.. so old school that school wasn't even invented yet (that's made up). Sub Chase comes on the same game cartridge as Armored Encounter, also reviewed by the Classic Game Room retro gaming review show. Two semi-awesome games on one cart, can't beat that! Classic Game Room is the only retro reviewer making Magnavox Odyssey 2 video game reviews in High Definition. Take that.... PS3 and 360! The Maggie O2 (or Videopace G7000 in Europe) now has reviews on the same level as your fancy new HD games... oh yeah, Sub Chase in HD clarity! You can see all the details on the sub like the four pixels that make it. Is that a flag or periscope?

I have two HDTV’s in my house, why do I get HD programming on one but not the other?

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

I have a Magnavox HDTV connected directly into the co-ax, and with it I can access some HD channels like 9.1 or 31.1... My other HDTV is a Samsung connected directly into the co-ax, but it doesn't have these options like the Magnavox does. How do I get HD programming on the Samsung?

I'll bet your Mag is newer. The newer sets have a QAM tuner that lets you get, what ever HD signals the cable company sends through on these HD channels. Typically they will have all the local channels plus they broadcast plus some junk digital channels (like QVC). Charter, where I am, will even run some movie channels, but without the sound. Strange, but true.

Classic Game Room HD – ARMORED ENCOUNTER! for Magnavox

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

2 Classic Game Room HD ARMORED ENCOUNTER! for MagnavoxClassic Game Room HD reviews ARMORED ENCOUNTER! for the Magnavox Odyssey 2 video game console from 1978! This game is basically the Magnavox version of Atari's Combat. Except without the nifty airplanes and invisible tanks. It shares a game cartridge with Sub Chase! (which is the better of the 2 games) and plays on your Magnavox O2 or Philips Videopac G-7000 if you live in Europe. This is a game of tank warfare, one on one, where you try and destroy your opponent's tank with brutal, unrelenting force. Destroy it with guided missiles, landmines and straight up gangsta' style tank cannon fire! Booya! Send your friend's tank to the tank scrapyard with this intense game of Combat... but it isn't Combat. Combat was for the Atari 2600. This is for Magnavox! Classic Game Room is the ultimate retro video game reviewer this side of the 9th moon of Endorx. The flying bird people f Xzongar-7 said "Classic Game Room is the best game reviewer on YouTube", and the half-panda, half mer-maid fish cyborgs from Canada agree! Classic Game Room is the best reviewer or PS3 and Xbox 360 and Wii games according to 3 out of 4 splinter cells in purgatory. That's amazing! Retro reviews, good times and brand new video game footage. Classic Game Room delivers! Enjoy this review of Armored Encounter responsibly.

They had a one day only price of $1,298 yesterday. Here's the specs. Waddaya think? Good deal? Good TV?
